The camera users among us might have been a bit concerned when they heard that Nikon's newest entry-level DSLR, the D3200, was using a 24-megapixel APS-C sensor, considering that high pixel counts can often lead to noisy images. We couldn't draw any conclusions on the D3200's image quality during our hands-on with an early unit (we weren't allowed to bring any images back to our computer screen), but now that Nikon has posted its a few sample pictures from the camera we can say that our first impression is a good one. The full-size JPEGs have a great amount of detail — such as you would expect for a 24-megapixel shot. Unfortunately, there is only one dim, 1600 ISO photo, and it definitely shows some noise weaknesses, but then again, it isn't bad for a $699.95 camera plus lens combo. We'll be able to give you a better idea of the D3200's performance when we get to review it and take our own photos, but for now check the sample shots in the gallery below (taken with a selection of lenses), and open the images in a new tab to see them at full size.
