Members of Amazon's $79-per-year Prime service are getting even more bang for their buck today with access to more streaming video content courtesy of Discovery Communications — the company behind Discovery Channel, TLC, Investigation Discovery, and Military Channel. The content includes past seasons of shows like Dirty Jobs and Whale Wars as well as access to some of Discovery's older library content. This deal looks to be basically the same as the one Discovery made with Netflix back in September, and we expect the actual shows and seasons offered to be more or less identical between the two. Amazon has been on a bit of a dealmaking spree of late, snapping up content from Viacom, ABC Disney and 20th Century Fox, as well. All told, Amazon Instant Video now has about 17,000 programs available to stream (not counting movies), up from 5,000 when the service launched back in February of last year.
