Three teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of supplying drugs after a 16-year-old girl died in Warrington.

Ellie Jones was at a friend's house on Densham Avenue, Longford, early on Saturday when "she began to experience breathing difficulties", police said.

She later died in hospital. Police were investigating the possibility she may have taken an "illegal substance".

The three boys, all 16, were also held on suspicion of perverting the course of justice and are being questioned.

A post-mortem examination has taken place, but results proved inconclusive.

The results of further toxicology tests are expected shortly.
