Tesco severed deer head: Essex Police arrest Saffron Walden man

A man in his 30s has been arrested after the severed head of a deer was left on a supermarket self-service checkout.

The innards of the animal were also found in one of the aisles of the Tesco shop in Saffron Walden, Essex.

Officers were called to the shop in Radwinter Road in the early hours of 4 June.

A 33-year-old man from Saffron Walden has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage.

He has been released on police bail.

After the head was found on one of its tills, a spokeswoman for Tesco apologised for "any distress caused".
