Two people have been arrested after a man was shot in the head at a party and died.

Jerome Edwards, 23, was shot at a flat in Camberwell, south London, in the early hours of Sunday.

Mr Edwards, from the Catford area of south London, died in hospital hours after the shooting in Southwell Road.

One man is being held on suspicion of murder, the other on suspicion of attempted murder.

Both men are aged in their early 20s.

"The man has yet to be formally identified, however officers are satisfied that the victim is Jerome Edwards, 23, from the Catford area," a Metropolitan Police spokesman said.

A post-mortem examination carried out at Greenwich mortuary on Monday gave the cause of death as a gunshot wound to the head.

Another man went to hospital suffering from a gunshot wound to the ankle soon after police were called to the scene at about 04:50 BST.

The 21-year-old, who police believe was shot in the street near the flat, was discharged from hospital the same day.

Det Ch Insp Glen Lloyd said: "We are trying to piece together the circumstances around both incidents.

"We believe there could have been anything up to 100 people at the party and I am keen to speak to anyone who was inside the flat in Southwell Road; anyone who was in the street outside or anyone who was driving in the area after 4am on Sunday morning."
