Microsoft's Windows Phone 7.8 update started rolling out in late January to existing devices, but it appears the software maker is working to fix an issue with Live Tiles in the updated OS. Microsoft first acknowledged the issue, where Live Tiles stop updating correctly, late last month, and the company now says it's working on a fix. Microsoft's Joe Belfiore says the company has "identified a minor issue where some 7.8 tiles stop updating and we are working on a fix now."

Vodafone in Germany recently revealed that Microsoft had halted the Windows Phone 7.8 update "until further notice." Windows Phone 7.8 users have complained of increased battery drain and failing Live Tile updates after upgrading to the new OS. Designed as an update to bring a similar Windows Phone 8 look and feel to existing devices, Windows Phone 7.8 is a fairly minor update for users without the latest hardware.
