A taxi driver was robbed at gunpoint after picking up a woman and two men.

Surrey Police said a woman rang his firm at about 23:20 GMT on Friday asking for a taxi from Worcester Park, south London, to Epsom.

The driver was robbed of his wallet and mobile phone by a man armed with a gun after dropping them off in Stanton Close, Epsom.

The second man was also seen to have a gun when he got out of the taxi. The three passengers got away on foot.

Det Sgt Jules Knowles said: "This was an extremely unpleasant ordeal for the taxi driver, who was just trying to do his job.

"Luckily he was not injured but the passengers still managed to get away with his wallet and mobile phone at great cost and inconvenience to him."

Officers are appealing for anyone with information about the robbery to come forward.
