Sega has partnered with Ouya to bring three Sonic games to the Android-based console soon after it launches later this month. The lineup includes both episodes of Sonic the Hedgehog 4 and Sonic CD. But expect to pay more on Ouya than the stock Android counterpart.

"For us, there were a couple of things that were exciting about Ouya. One is obviously that it's a great gaming platform on a new device. When you get the chance to hook it up to an HDTV and watch it on a big screen, it's actually quite impressive," David Zemke, Sega of America's director of mobile business, told GI.biz. "It's disruptive technology, right? It's fun to see what these technologies can do and be a part of it from the beginning. For those two reasons alone, we've looked at it as yet another reason to bring some great Sega content to a whole new audience."

As per Ouya's requirements, Sonic CD and Sonic 4 Episodes 1 and 2 will be "free-to-try." The first level of Episode 1 and Sonic CD will be free, along with the first two levels of Episode 2. Full games will cost $6.99 each, a huge step up from Google Play prices of $4.99 for Episode 2, $3.99 for Episode 1 and $2.99 for Sonic CD.
