Half Of The Nation's Top Delivery Foods Are From Chicago

By Anthony Todd in Food on Jan 28, 2013 5:00PM

We are a city of serious delivery-orderers. Perhaps storms like last night help explain our lust for food brought to our couches, but whatever the explanation, Chicago has half of America's top 10 most popular delivery foods, according to GrubHub.

GrubHub gave HuffPo Food a list of the top 10 most popular dishes from their entire system in 2012. Five of them were from Chicago, two from Washington D.C. and three from Ithaca, NY. Either their data is a mess or we need to put Ithaca on our list of places to visit.

What made the list in Chicago? Remember, these are based on dishes, not restaurants. Unsurprisingly, a lot of pizza is on the list, including pies from Dante's, John's and Pete's Pizza. Crab Rangoon from Peking Chinese Kitchen and Cozy Noodles and Rice made up the rest of the list. The moral of this story? All we eat in Chicago is cheese.

Don't take this list too seriously, as it may have more to do with GrubHub's popularity in Chicago than anything else. Chicago has the second-highest number of restaurants on the site (New York is #1) and it's possible that we've hit a sweet spot between variety of restaurants and quality of a few of them. Or it's possible that we just really, really like crab rangoon. Anyway, check out the whole list.
