Where Are Chicago's Best Hot Dogs?

We've been rounding up some of the best things in the city of Chicago this year, but we haven't gotten to hot dogs just yet. Luckily, we aren't the only writers in the city concerned with getting the highest-quality ketchup free encased meats.

Serious Eats Chicago polled their expert staff to find the best hot dogs in town. This isn't a list of the best sausages - otherwise it would be filled with the likes of Hot Doug's and Butcher & Larder. This is best hot dogs. Real hot dogs.

If there is any website we'd trust with out hot dog needs (in addition to Chicagoist, of course), it would be Serious Eats. Their list includes favorites like classic hot dogs at Gene and Jude's, Redhot Ranch and Superdawg, as well as some modern newcomers. We're particulary fond of the Chicago hot dog riff that Allium has going on, and we haven't yet gotten a chance to try the Milt's Dog at Milt's Barbecue for the Perplexed but we'll be heading in as soon as we can.

Check out the whole list here.
