COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A Logan Square man is being held on $150,000 bond after allegedly robbing a delivery man of his pizza in the city's Hermosa neighborhood.
Prosecutors said Alex Quiles, 28, approached a Papa John's delivery man while he was making a delivery in the 2300 block of North Kenneth Avenue about 8:30 p.m Thursday.
Quiles, of the 2200 block of North Hamlin Avenue, was unarmed but put his hand in his pocket and pointed it at the delivery man as if he was holding a gun, Assistant States Attorney Lorraine Scaduto said.
The delivery man handed over a pizza to Quiles, who pushed the man before walking away, according to court documents. Prosecutors could not say what kind of pizza was stolen.
Soon afterwards, police pulled over Quiles as he was driving his car. A police officer saw a Papa John's box containing a half-eaten pizza as well as an open can of beer in a cup holder, according to court documents.
Quiles was arrested after the delivery man identified him as the robber. Quiles was charged with aggravated robbery and was also cited for having illegal tinted windows on his car. Quiles was on parole for aggravated battery to a police officer, Scaduto said.
Cook County Judge Laura Sullivan ordered Quiles held on $150,000 bond.
