Cicero Woman Killed When Car Crashes, Splits in Half

CHICAGO — A woman was killed early Saturday when the car she was traveling struck a viaduct on the city’s West Side and split in half, police said.

The accident happened around 2:15 a.m. in the 1600 block of South Western Avenue when a male driver hit a viaduct and flipped the vehicle, said Officer Laura Kubiak, a police spokeswoman.

The victim was identified as Chantelle Jones, 26, of the 1200 block of South 56th Court in Cicero, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

The driver, a male, was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital.  Jones was also taken to Mt. Sinai in critical condition, where she later died, Kubiak said. She was pronounced dead at 5:34 a.m.
