Death of 6-Month-Old Leads to Neglect Investigation

CHICAGO — Officials are investigating allegations of neglect against the father of a 6-month-old West Garfield Park boy who died Sunday.

The infant, Haven Petty, was found unresponsive in a playpen inside his home in the 3200 block of West Douglas Boulevard, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

He was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital about 9 p.m.

There  were no other children in the home, and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services has had no prior contact with the family, a DCFS spokesman said.
