Woman Fought Off Man Who Tried to Kidnap Her in Belmont Cragin

CHICAGO — A woman fought off a would-be kidnapper Friday morning in Belmont Cragin, police said.

The incident occurred about 7:40 a.m. when the 19-year-old woman was walking in the 2700 block of North Lamon Avenue.

The man, believed to be in his early 20s, ran up behind her and grabbed her arm. He then told her to come with him, pulling her into an alley.

When the woman refused to comply, he hit her in the face and the body. The woman screamed and fought off the man, who fled the area.

The man is described as being Hispanic with a slim build, medium complexion and slight facial hair.

He spoke with a faint accent and was seen wearing a hooded sweatshirt, long gray basketball shorts with a white stripe and white gym shoes.
