Carole Waugh death: Man admits hiding executive's body

A man has admitted hiding the body of businesswoman Carole Waugh in a lock-up garage in south-west London last year.

At the Old Bailey, Rakesh Bhayani, 41, pleaded guilty to concealing the death of Ms Waugh and hiding her body.

Bhayani and another man, Nicholas Kutner, 48, deny murdering the 50-year-old oil executive. The pair are due to go on trial in October.

Ms Waugh's family reported her missing on 7 May. Her body was found on 2 August in New Malden.

She had died of a stab wound, tests found.

Both men admit defrauding Ms Waugh by withdrawing cash from her bank accounts and taking out loans and using credit cards in her name.

Kutner, of no fixed address, denies perverting the course of justice but has admitted a further three charges of fraud after pretending to be Ms Waugh's brother Christopher to charge rent for her flat.

Bhayani's wife Sheetal, who, like her husband, is from Wembley in north-west London, denies possessing criminal property, while three other women and a man have pleaded not guilty to fraud charges in connection with the case.

A seventh defendant, Derek Eastham, admits possessing counterfeit money but has denied fraud.

All the defendants will face a trial in October.

Ms Waugh, originally from Durham, had worked for an oil company in Libya and lived at Tressard Court in Marylebone, central London.

Her family had last seen her on 16 April 2012.
