Video: British McDonald's Launches Chicago Supreme Burger

McDonald's in the United Kingdom is running its "Great Tastes of America" menu, which features a special new "American" burger each week for five weeks. The burgers are supposed to represent different parts of the U.S., but the regions don't exactly match with the toppings. This week the Brits are eating the Chicago Supreme burger, which really has nothing to do with Chicago at all. BrandEating.com describes the burger:

McDonald's taps Chicago with the Chicago Supreme, featuring a beef patty, shredded lettuce, bacon, onions, cheese slices, spicy tomato salsa, and cool mayo, all in a chilli, chive and sesame topped bun.

May we remind you that McDonald's was founded in the Chicago suburbs. The corporate headquarters remain in Oak Brook, Ill. We can only assume there is just one guy at the Oak Brook office who was asked what he puts on his burgers. We're not saying it doesn't still sound tasty, but there's nothing Chicago Supreme about a burger topped with salsa.

The other burgers on the "Great Tastes of America" menu are Louisiana BBQ burger, Arizona Nacho Grande, California Melt and New York Classic. While they're all regionally inaccurate, we'd argue the Chicago Supreme is the most egregiously incorrect. Then again, what would accurately go on a Chicago-style hamburger?

The best part of the menu might be these commercials featuring yellow taxis and cheerleaders, which make you think, "Oh, so this is what British people think America is."
