Facebook took to the Game Developers Conference today armed with some new statistics that reinforce the company's standing as a popular hub for casual gaming. Over 250 million users are playing games on Facebook.com each month, with roughly 20 percent of the social network's daily visitors taking part. Developers are also being reminded that designing Facebook games can be a lucrative business; over 100 game makers generated over $1 million last year. In total, developers split over $2 billion in payouts.

Unsurprisingly, the company is also trumpeting benefits that come with building Facebook integration into games existing platforms like iOS and Android. Facebook's mobile apps sent 263 million clicks to the App Store and Google Play in February. And Facebook seems to think integration is appealing to players, with over half (55 percent) of the top 400 iOS apps tied into the service. Gaming will also be a focal point of the new timeline design; a new game section will let users list their favorite games and serve as yet another avenue of discovery for developers.
