London fire station closure plans rejected in vote

Plans to close 12 fire stations with the loss of 520 jobs have been rejected by the London Fire Authority.

After a fierce debate the proposals - aimed at saving £45m over the next two years - were rejected.

BBC London's Karl Mercer spoke to the Fire Brigades Union's Gordon Fielden, Fire Authority Labour member Fiona Twycross, Green member Darren Johnson, Lib Dem member Stephen Knight and Conservative member Susan Hall.

He also spoke to Fire Authority Labour member Andrew Dismore and Fire Authority chairman James Cleverly.
