Google+ is getting a slight makeover today with additions that include much larger cover photos, a tab for quick access to your Local reviews, and simplified profile editing. The changes were announced by Googler Sara McKinley and shared to a wider audience by Vic Gundotra, Google's VP of Engineering. Users can now choose cover photos with a max resolution of 2120 x 1192, and your images will be displayed in 16:9 format when clicked. "This way more images can be used as cover photos, and there’s more room for your selection to shine," McKinley says.

The company has also added a shortcut tab to the Google+ sidebar for your Local reviews. This could prove handy, assuming you're "all in" on Google's services and prefer publishing your business / restaurant reviews on Local instead of competitors like Yelp. And finally, Google is looking to make editing your profile page a bit easier. The About tab has been split into separate sections (Story, Places, Links, etc) and each can be edited separately. Google is quick to remind users that privacy controls can be set for each individual field, in case you don't want all of your circles following your recent explorations. These changes are rolling out "gradually" according to Google, so if you're not seeing them immediately, give it some time.
